This October, Puffin is thrilled to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Funnybones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. Featuring iconic and nostalgic illustrations, repetitive rhythms and humour, Funnybones is loved by grandparents, parents, and children alike, and remains a firm favourite on bookshelves year after year.

 

This Halloween, Puffin are celebrating this classic book’s 40th  anniversary with an upsized edition, complete with a spook-tacular glow in the dark cover to brighten up your dark, dark house! In celebration, The Hummingbird Bakery is delighted to be sharing with you a selection of special edition Funnybones cupcakes and a layer cake to mark 40 years since the Funnybones was first published in 1980, and to welcome this new anniversary edition.

Sure to tickle your taste buds as much as the books will tickle your funny bone, these freshly baked cupcakes and layer cake are the perfect family indulgence this October half-term.

 

Individual cupcakes will be available for takeaway only at our London bakeries in Vanilla and Chocolate flavours or you can order the whole range online for collection. We have Covid-19 safety measures in place throughout our branches.

About Janet and Allan Ahlberg

 

Janet Ahlberg, along with Allan Ahlberg, created some of the world's most popular picture books, including EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY CHRISTMAS POSTMAN, both winners of Greenaway Medals, and THE BABY'S CATALOGUE, inspired by their daughter Jessica. Janet died in 1994.

 

Allan Ahlberg, a former teacher, postman, plumber's mate and grave digger, is in the super-league of children's writers.
